Ellis Kincaid (Sharp) CARDEN, 1925-2012
CARDEN, MRS. ELLIS - age 86 of LaFollette, passed away peacefully at her home in Davis Chapel on Thursday morning, January 12, 2012. She was a faithful member of the LaFollette United Methodist Church for over 40 years and the Waco Baptist Church in Waco, Kentucky, for 30 years. Ellis was also a member of the Senior Choir at Waco Baptist for many years. Ellis was born at her home in LaFollette on February 13, 1925, where she lived until she was married to her husband, Mr. Bob Carden, on June 14, 1946. She was a graduate of LaFollette High School and worked as a teaching assistant for many years in the Campbell County School System. Her parents were John Henry Sharp and Bessie Snavely Sharp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Bob Carden; brother, John Condra Sharp; and sister, June Ellison. Throughout her long battle with Alzheimer's disease, she kept her sweet spirit and good manners. She always enjoyed sewing and crafts of all types. She was an accomplished seamstress and made personalized quilts for almost every member of her family. For years she made a quilt for every new baby in her church. She loved homemaking, cooking, and had a passion for growing and arranging flowers. She was a faithful wife and loving mother to her daughters and their families. Ellis is survived by her daughters, Dinah Martin and her husband, Jim, of Waco, Kentucky; Nancy Blevins and her husband, Darril, of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Laura Broyles and her husband Jerry, of LaFollette. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: John Martin, James Martin, Joe Martin, Russell Hammac, Jill McHaffie, Rae Russell, and Carden Russell. Her great-grandchildren are: Chase Martin, Connor Martin, Grant Martin, Ella Martin, Molly Martin, Laura Martin, Claire Martin, Ryann McHaffie, Maddi Bolton, Bo McHaffie, Lily Martin, Jack Bradley Martin, and Mary Ellis McHaffie. Funeral services will be Saturday at the LaFollette United Methodist Church at 12:00 p.m., January 14, 2012, with Dr. Kenneth Faught officiating. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. before funeral services. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The LaFollette United Methodist Church, 808 East Central Avenue, LaFollette, TN 37766 and Body Recall, P.O. Box 412, Berea, KY 40403.
